Lamorna grew up in an artists' environment in rural Cornwall where she had from a very early age an instinctive need to draw and paint. In 1993 she spent a year at Falmouth College of Art where she specialised in fashion and textiles. She was awarded a distinction and her tutor took her work to Japan as an example to prospective students. She moved to London and spent three years studying for her degree in theatre and costume at Wimbledon School of Art. In that time she worked with international television and theatre companies designing costumes and sets. She was invited by the National Gallery to design and interpret a costume for her final show from paintings hung at the National. Once graduated Lamorna returned to Cornwall where she found the landscape and pace of life had such a considerable impact on her work she decided to devote all her working energies to painting. Before settling totally in her beloved Cornwall Lamorna’s passion for the water and surfing took her to Australia and France where she spent much time working and travelling widely with her sketch book. Now home again and painting full time from her studio in Falmouth. Lamorna concentrates on painting the south west and its surrounding waters with its quality of light giving her work a distinctive character. Her work is vibrant, strong and has an immense sense of style. Experimenting constantly Lamorna continues to produce work full of spontaneity and positive energy.
